Munich: The photographer Wilfried Hösl exhibits in the State Opera – Munich

Wilfried Hösl has photographed for decades for the Bavarian State Theater, the opera and the ballet in Munich and has portrayed numerous artists. Doing justice to everyone wasn’t always easy. Now he himself is the focus.

“Ingmar Bergman is actually responsible for my being here,” says Wilfried Hösl, looking pensively at a black and white photo. Well, there would be worse references than the Swedish director, who became internationally famous with films like “The Seventh Seal”, “Scenes from a Marriage” or “Fanny and Alexander”, but also worked a lot in the theater. Including at the Munich Residenztheater until 1985, after he fled from Sweden to Germany in 1976 to escape charges of tax evasion.
