The Magdeburg attack is completely off the mark. After another Andersson goal, Gisli Kristjansson got the ball in front. Matthias Gidsel then had the equalizer in his hands, but Sergey Hernandez made a brilliant save.

Doping case overshadows the Final Four

The doping affair surrounding Nikola Portner overshadowed the fight for the first title this year: After the positive test for methamphetamine D, or crystal meth for short, there are many question marks at SC Magdeburg. The Swiss national goalkeeper was temporarily suspended by the HBL.

Last year the Magdeburg team lost dramatically to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen in the final. Last year’s winner was eliminated in the quarterfinals this year.
