While the situation is critical for civilians, the UN General Assembly must vote this Tuesday on a resolution demanding “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip, a non-binding text which has all the chances of passing. Despite pressure from United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, a draft text calling for this humanitarian ceasefire was vetoed on Friday at the Security Council by the United States, Israel’s powerful ally.
