6:15 a.m.: France calls for an “immediate humanitarian truce”
The French Minister of Foreign Affairs called on Sunday in Doha for an “immediate, lasting and sustained humanitarian truce”. This “is absolutely necessary and must be able to lead to a ceasefire,” declared Catherine Colonna after a meeting with her Qatari counterpart.
Faced with the “humanitarian catastrophe unfolding before our eyes” in the Gaza Strip, “the (UN) Security Council must live up to its responsibilities and adopt a text. We are working on this with our partners, notably Brazil and other countries,” she added.
