6:20 a.m.: Guterres judges that Gaza is becoming “a cemetery for children”
The “catastrophe” caused by the war between Israel and Hamas “makes the need for a humanitarian ceasefire more urgent with each passing hour,” the UN Secretary General pleaded on Monday, describing Gaza as “ a cemetery for children.
“The parties to the conflict, and the international community, face an immediate and fundamental responsibility: to end this inhumane collective suffering and radically increase humanitarian assistance to Gaza,” said Antonio Guterres. According to him, “the nightmare in Gaza is more than a humanitarian crisis, it is a crisis of humanity”.
