Hamas-Israel War: France “deeply concerned” after Israeli strikes against the Jabaliya camp

In the war between Hamas and Israel, Paris is once again moved by the dramatic fate of civilians. France said on Wednesday that it was “deeply concerned about the very heavy toll” of Israeli strikes on the Jabaliya Palestinian refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip.

While expressing “its compassion towards the victims”, French diplomacy recalls in a press release that “the protection of civilian populations is an obligation of international law which is binding on all”. Paris “reiterates its call for an immediate humanitarian truce so that aid can reach those who need it in a sustainable, safe and sufficient way,” adds the Quai d’Orsay.

Israel says it targeted Hamas commander

Israel bombed the Jabaliya refugee camp twice, Tuesday and Wednesday, killing several dozen civilians each time and causing significant material damage, according to Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. The Hebrew State explained on Tuesday that it had targeted a Hamas commander, Ibrahim Biari, presented as one of those responsible for the bloody attack of October 7 in Israel.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, for his part, said on Wednesday he was “appalled” by the bombings on the very densely populated Jabaliya camp, where 116,000 refugees live. On the social network
