The attacks were carried out from the air, from the ground and from the sea. However, Hamas units would still resist. This applies especially to the Nukhba units, a kind of special forces within the Qassam brigades controlled by Hamas.

Israel is threatened with a new front in the war

Update from December 8th, 8:09 a.m: The war in Israel is apparently threatened with another front. As the Israeli army announced, its own units were fired upon again from Lebanon on Friday night. The Hezbollah militia, which is allied with Hamas and equipped by Iran, is said to be behind the attacks. The Israeli army responded to the attacks with a drone strike, the IDF said on its Twitter account.

Update from December 8th, 7:15 a.m.: Apparently another aid convoy has reached the Gaza Strip from Egypt. Blinken calls on Israel to protect civilians in war

Update from December 8th, 5:50 a.m.: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has again called on Israel to do more to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli leadership has taken important additional steps in this direction, Blinken said on Thursday (local time) after a meeting with his British colleague David Cameron in Washington. However, there is still a gap between what he suggested during his recent visit to Tel Aviv and what actual results can be observed.

Blinken said, for example, that it was not just about setting up safety zones, but also communicating about them in such a way that people actually knew where they could flee, when exactly and how. In addition, there must be food, water and medicine for the refugees in such security zones.

Army advances into Khan Yunis city center during war in Israel

First report from December 8th: Tel Aviv/Gaza – In the Gaza Strip, the heavy fighting between Israeli soldiers and fighters from the radical Islamic Hamas is moving increasingly south. In Khan Yunis, the largest city in the south of the coastal strip, Israeli soldiers advanced into the city center with tanks. The Israeli army said on Thursday (December 7) that it had “killed several Hamas terrorists and attacked dozens of terrorist targets” in Khan Yunis.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has asked the UN Security Council to vote Friday morning on a draft resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, according to diplomats. To pass, a resolution needs at least nine votes and no veto from the five permanent members – the United States, Russia, China, France and Britain. The US has said it does not support further action by the Council at this time. The US and Israel reject a ceasefire because they believe it would only benefit Hamas.

Hamas fires from “humanitarian security zones” in the Israel war

Israel’s military, meanwhile, said that Hamas had fired rockets at Israel from “humanitarian security zones.” Israeli media on Thursday published images of dozens of Palestinians in their underpants arrested in the Gaza Strip. The men’s identities were initially unclear. Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the northern coastal strip districts of Jabalia and Shejaiya were “terrorist strongholds and we are fighting them.”

Anyone remaining in these areas, coming out of tunnel shafts or out of buildings, is being investigated to clarify “who has connections to Hamas and who doesn’t.” Everyone is arrested and interrogated, explained Hagari.

Iran’s President visits Moscow – war is also an issue in Israel

During a visit to Moscow, Iranian leader Ebrahim Raisi accused Israel of bombing the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. The attacks must stop, he demanded at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their meeting, Putin and Raisi also spoke out in favor of expanding bilateral cooperation. Putin mentioned the energy sector and large infrastructure projects.

Iran is Moscow’s most important partner in the region, including as a supplier of weapons for the Ukraine war. Cooperation is set to become even closer through a free trade agreement between the Russian-dominated Eurasian Free Trade Zone and Iran. This will also be included in the Brics group of important emerging countries and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), in which Moscow plays an important role. (with news agency material)
