The 32-year-old attacker on the synagogue in Halle/Saale has been sentenced to a further seven years in prison for taking hostages.

The Halle assassin is because Hostage taking in Burg prison was sentenced to seven years in prison. The Stendal regional court decided this on Tuesday.

Because of the racist and anti-Semitic attack near the synagogue in Halle, 32-year-old Stephan B. was sentenced to life imprisonment followed by preventive detention in 2020.

On October 9, 2019, the then 27-year-old failed in his attempt to break into the synagogue in Halle and murder as many Jews as possible there. As a result, he shot a 40-year-old in front of the church and a 20-year-old in a kebab shop, and injured and threatened other people. B. himself recorded the crimes on video and confessed to them in several interrogations.
