Halle attacker admits to taking hostages – about a strange appearance in court

In December 2022, Stephan B., the Halle assassin, took two justice officials hostage and tried to escape with a homemade weapon. Now he has to answer in court. On the first day of the trial, B. confesses to the crime, but wants to clarify a few things.

They took off his handcuffs, but his feet remain tied. One of Germany’s most dangerous criminals sits in the dock of the Magdeburg regional court this Thursday: Stephan B., Halle attacker, fanatical right-wing extremist, convicted murderer. In December 2022 he is said to have taken two prison guards into his power and wanted to use the hostages to get out of prison – which is why he is now charged with armed hostage-taking and violating the weapons law.
