There are many reasons for hair loss. Symptoms of deficiencies and diseases, but also styling mistakes affect the hair on the head.

A person loses between 60 and 100 hairs on their head every day, and this number is often higher in women. Hair loss becomes alarming when you lose entire tufts when brushing your hair or notice bald spots. In addition to hereditary baldness, so-called alopecia, deficiency symptoms or hormonal fluctuations, incorrect care and styling habits can also be the cause of hair loss. It is important to avoid these mistakes.

The wrong hair wash

Daily hair washing is part of the morning routine for many women. Unfortunately, washing your hair too often dries out your hair and makes it brittle. This applies above all to the use of shampoos with silicones, which roughen the hair structure, as well as to “cleansing shampoos” – ie shampoos that are intended to have a deep-cleansing effect against residues and grease. In addition, frequent washing unbalances the pH of the scalp and thus increases hair loss. It is therefore essential to use a mild shampoo that is as natural as possible.

A hair style that is too tight

A tight bun or ponytail, tightly tied hair ties and pinned-in hairpins: styling that is too tight can also have a negative effect on hair growth and the scalp. It stretches the hair extremely and damages the hair roots. That’s why you should wear your hair loose more often. Extra tip: after a day with a tight hairstyle, massage the scalp in the evening, preferably with a revitalizing hair tonic.

Excessive heat from hair dryers and the like.

Many people don’t have time in the morning to let their hair air dry. Nevertheless, you should try to avoid blow-drying every now and then. Especially if you notice increased hair loss. Straightening irons and curling irons are even more taxing on damaged hair, since it is exposed to the high temperatures in direct contact. When styling hair with high temperatures, heat protection is a must!

Frequent hair coloring

The fact that chemical dyes damage hair is not new knowledge. Most commercially available hair dyes contain toxic ingredients such as ammonia, which damage the scalp and thus the hair roots and can promote hair loss. Henna or vegetable colors are a lot gentler on the hair and scalp and also achieve great color results.

Too much stress

Constant stress not only attacks the body and psyche, but also affects the substance of the hair. The reason: In periods of stress, the androgen level is usually increased, which promotes hair loss. In addition, during times of stress, we tend to eat an unbalanced diet. In general, the following applies to thinning hair: If you suffer from noticeably severe hair loss over a longer period of time, you should always have this examined by a doctor. Because hair loss can also be the result of iron deficiency, skin diseases or thyroid problems.
