A 78-year-old woman was killed on Sunday evening after a fire broke out in Haar in her apartment. It was initially unclear whether she died of smoke inhalation or of her severe burn injuries. Neighbors had called the police and the fire brigade around 10.45 p.m. because they had smelled a burning smell from an apartment in the apartment building on Dianastraße. Firefighters then broke into the apartment in question and took the resident who lived alone out of the house. The ambulance service could only determine her death. During their first investigations, the police specialists found no evidence of a technical defect as the cause of the fire. Since the 78-year-old was known as a smoker and her care bed had burned completely, the police assume that a cigarette started the fire. The fire caused property damage of tens of thousands of euros.
