Haibach: Investigations against swimming instructors after a fatal swimming accident – Bavaria

After the death of a five-year-old boy in Haibach (Aschaffenburg district) in Lower Franconia in a swimming accident, the police and public prosecutor’s office are investigating on suspicion of negligent homicide. The authorities announced this on Monday.

The boy died in a hospital last Friday as a result of the accident that occurred on April 28 at a private swimming course. As the police reported after the accident, the boy’s head was under water for reasons that are not yet clear, before he was first rescued and treated by an ambulance.

Police and public prosecutors are now investigating “who had supervisory duties. Appropriate proceedings have already been initiated against one person to determine whether they violated their duties and this resulted in the death of the child,” the statement said. According to SZ information, this is a swimming instructor.

The police are currently not providing any information on the exact course of the accident, so as not to influence statements in the case of pending witness interviews. The public prosecutor ordered an autopsy of the body.
