Hagen (NRW) – This case is just macabre: A undertaker (65) had four coffins with corpses on board on Wednesday afternoon. Suddenly the man at the wheel suffered a heart attack and died.
The Sprinter rolled about 500 meters further, then left the road to the right and collided with a crash barrier.
According to the first findings of the police, the man probably suffered a heart attack when he was on the Ruhrtalstraße. Observant drivers stopped.
The hearse slid into the ditch
The doors of the hearse were locked. First responders smashed the passenger door window to save the unconscious man. The rescuers immediately began resuscitation until the rescue workers arrived.
Despite the courageous intervention of first responders and emergency services, all resuscitation measures were unsuccessful. The man died at the scene of the accident.
The coffins containing the deceased were not damaged in the accident. The undertaker took care of their onward transport with two other vehicles.
