Haar – Munich housing plans on Rappenweg arouse worries – District of Munich

Ambitious residential plans are putting a strain on the relationship between the city of Munich and the neighboring community of Haar. The northern bypass, once planned as a connecting road north of the railway line from Trudering to Haar, is therefore as good as off the table. Haar fears massive traffic loads should another east-west connection be created north of the railway line, which could accommodate local traffic and, in the worst case, even develop as an alternative route to the B 304. Plans are currently underway for the construction of around 1700 apartments on Rappenweg in Trudering, right on the city limits of Haar. The city of Munich would also like to have large-scale apartments built on the Haarer Flur in Gronsdorf. There, the city owns an area of eleven hectares at the train station. There is talk of hundreds of apartments there.

When the plans on Rappenweg and other projects that Munich is pursuing in construction phase five of the trade fair city on Heltauer Strasse with 1,500 apartments were recently discussed in the building committee of the Haar municipal council, the attitude was clear. It would not be responsible to create a road connection to the east for the residents of these new development areas with the long-discussed and pursued breakthrough to Rappenweg. The north bypass would provide for a connection to be made from the B 304 on Schwablhofstraße via Rappenweg to Heimgartenstraße in Gronsdorf and on to the railway line to Eglfing and to the B 471. However, this maximum expansion was rejected as undesirable in Haar when the mobility concept was drawn up. Now the building committee of the municipal council has emphasized this again. There is currently no way of agreeing to this.

Many workshops are now located on Rappenweg. In addition to commercial space, large apartment blocks are to be built there.

Apart from that, Haar is committed to a cycle path connection across the city and municipality boundaries north of the railway and calls on Munich to create parking spaces for visitors to the Riemer See in the city hall. A comprehensive traffic concept is essential. Next Tuesday, the report on a possible development in Gronsdorf with hundreds of residential units will be presented to the public for the first time in the Haar municipal council.
