We have known better to approach a final sprint in the fight to stay in the Bundesliga. Hertha Berlin, 15th and first non-relegation, will be placed in solitary confinement after three positive Covid-19 tests concerning Hungarian coach Pal Dardai, his assistant Admir Hamzagic and Belgian striker Dodi Lukebakio, announced Thursday the Bundesliga club.

The three men are asymptomatic and will observe a period of quarantine at their home. The other members of the team are now isolated, all together, until April 28, and can only leave their accommodation to go to train or play matches.

A “delicate” period

The isolation period covers Sunday’s game on the Mainz lawn, the home game against Freiburg next Wednesday and the crucial visit to the red lantern, Schalke 04, on April 24.

“We will accept this delicate situation as a team and we will do everything together to win the next matches,” said Hertha sporting director Arne Friedrich, who will replace Dardai during his quarantine.
