“Gspusi & Klara” in Munich-Neuhausen: Whether it’s an inn or a bar – the main thing is a drink – Munich

In summer, life takes place outside. It even draws those into the open air who actually prefer to bog down at the bar in their regular boazn. On warm summer nights, people sit on terraces and in sidewalk cafés until late in the evening, preferably with a drink in hand. This is also the case in “Gspusi & Klara” in Neuhausen.

It’s just not entirely clear outside whether you’re sitting in the “Gspusi”, the tavern, or “Klara”, the bar. And so it sometimes happens that the waiter eagerly reports which culinary delicacies are on the menu as a special that day – even though you only came up with a nightcap.

Anyone who has ever been to the Bodega Dalí or the Bodeguita knows that the three young innkeepers know how to serve drinks as well as food. In the Klara-Bar, reading the drinks menu probably takes longer than reading the menu. Because in addition to the recommendations of the three operators, there is a whole list of cocktails that not only sound and look fabulous, but also taste really good.

All non-vegans should listen to the bartender and try a “Boston Berries” (12.50 euros) with bourbon, caramel syrup and cranberry juice or “Klara’s Gipfelstürmer” (13.50 euros) with lemon juice, apricot schnapps and syrup. Both drinks are made with egg foam, because “everything tastes better with egg white,” he says.

The “Gspusi & Klara” reopened in early May on Elvirastrasse.

Gspusi & Klara: The fact that the bar is not fully furnished inside doesn't matter given the currently beautiful weather: life takes place on the terrace anyway.

Most people probably don’t have the money to drink their way through the entire cocktail menu, but if necessary you can switch to beer after a few drinks or order a “gentlemen’s set”: a 0.25-liter glass of Augustiner, plus a stamperl Grappa (6.70 euros) – even if, strictly speaking, that’s what it says on the menu. Incidentally, this combination is also suitable for those days when it has long since become too uncomfortable to sit outside.

Then at the latest you can make yourself comfortable at the long counter in the Klara Bar. By the way, the bar is called that because, unlike the Wirtshaus Gspusi, it is on the side facing Klarastrasse.
