“I can remember exactly that moment when I walked out the door at Bernd Buchholz’s. The sun was shining and I had the feeling that my life was finally beginning,” says the publisher of the magazine emotion, Katarzyna Mol-Wolf in retrospect. In 2009, the then Gruner + Jahr publishing boss, Buchholz, no longer thought it would be expedient to keep the psychology magazine in the portfolio. It should be discontinued or discarded. The publishing manager at the time, Mol-Wolf, decided to make her dream of becoming self-employed come true and to buy the magazine from the publishing house. Buchholz gave Mol-Wolf eight weeks to raise one million euros.
