TV station confirms another season
“Grey’s Anatomy”: The hit series from the USA is getting another season.

Now it’s official: “Grey’s Anatomy” is entering round 21. Fans can expect excitement and drama again.
The American hit series “Grey’s Anatomy” (since 2005) is currently delighting viewers in the USA with an anniversary season. Since March 14th, fans of the longest-running hospital series of all time have been able to see their favorites in action again, and can now look forward to more good news: How The US industry magazine “Variety” reports that “Grey’s Anatomy” is being extended for a 21st season on the US TV channel ABC.
“The love and loyalty of the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fans have driven us to a historic 21st season and I couldn’t be more grateful,” explains series creator and producer Shonda Rhimes (54). “Meg Marini’s storytelling is a gift that keeps the series lively and compelling. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for next season,” Shonda continued.
Marinis, who has been part of the “Grey’s Anatomy” family as an author for 18 years, replaced ex-showrunner Krista Vernoff (52) in the 20th season – and apparently with success. At the start of the current season, the ABC station recorded an audience rating that had not been seen since February 2023.
Well-known faces in the anniversary relay
It is not yet known which stars and favorites fans can look forward to in the 21st season. But the current anniversary season of the successful hospital series is already surprising with unexpected comebacks: Jessica Capshaw (47) is once again taking on the role of Dr. Arizona Robbins and Alex Landi (31) return as Dr. Nico Kim also returns to Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital – but only for guest appearances.
Fans can stay excited to see what the 21st season has in store for them, and further “Grey’s Anatomy” comebacks cannot be ruled out: “The show has already had 20 seasons, we have so many people we would like to see again.”
The 20th season of the successful hospital series is expected to air on ProSieben from autumn 2024. Fans can stream all 19th seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy” that have already been released on Disney+.
