Grégory Doucet asks the State to dissolve ultra-right groups in Lyon

Grégory Doucet, the mayor of Lyon, wrote an official letter to Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, and to Eric Dupond-Moretti, Keeper of the Seals and Minister of Justice, to demand the dissolution of far-right groups Lyonnais, reports

In his letter, dated January 26, the mayor EELV refers to the presence of associations still meeting at the Remparts, a bar in Old Lyon which served as a gathering place for Génération Identitaire, a group dissolved in March 2021. adjoining boxing, L’Agogé, is also concerned.

Violent clashes between radicals

“Like the decree of dissolution of the Alvarium in Angers, condemning the “speech of assumed hatred and inciting discrimination or violence against people because of their origin or their religion”, I ask you to pronounce the dissolution of the associations at the origin of the reopening of the Remparts, ”wrote the mayor in his letter.

Several violent incidents had broken out in 2021 in Lyon between these ultra-right groups and anti-fascist activists. The illegal reconstitution of an association dissolved by the State is punishable by 3 years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.
