Green politician Dahmen wants to make opening prospects dependent primarily on the situation in the clinics. The focus is on hospitalization incidence, bed occupancy and staff availability.

The Greens health politician Janosch Dahmen warned in the debate about easing corona measures against raising false hopes.

The development of opening perspectives should not be linked to a date, but must be guided by data on the current and future pandemic situation, said Dahmen of the “Rheinische Post”. He named a daily hospitalization incidence, the occupancy of the beds in normal and intensive care units and the availability of staff in the healthcare system. “We need a realistic perspective instead of raising false hopes.”

You have to plan ahead and not relax too quickly, argued Dahmen. “In the next few weeks we will have to ensure that there is a corresponding database. On this basis, the RKI (Robert Koch Institute) can then develop a corresponding step-by-step scheme, taking into account the recommendations of the expert council. » The pandemic will also play a role in the coming months, which is why “various protective measures” are still needed.

Government reluctant to relax

On Monday, the federal government reiterated its initially cautious approach to easing everyday requirements. However, several countries are already taking steps to open up. The next federal-state round of further action is planned for February 16. Loosening could be an issue there. At the end of January, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and the state leaders agreed to “(to) develop opening perspectives for the moment when an overload of the health system can be ruled out”.

The debate recently focused on March 19, when the legal basis for the current corona measures expires. “In the next few weeks we will take our time to see whether it is even necessary to extend the corona protection measures beyond March 19,” said the parliamentary director of the SPD parliamentary group, Johannes Fechner, last week of the “world”.
