Great news for artists … Culturebox is being extended until August

It is not impossible that the title of this article is a tad sarcastic. While theaters, cinemas and museums have been closed since October 30, 2020 (they were to reopen on December 15, but ultimately, well no), the Ministry of Culture and France Télévisions announced that the Culturebox channel would continue to broadcast until August.

This is, of course, a very small consolation since most of the summer festivals will not be held this year either, after a summer 2020 already sacrificed.

Museums, cinemas and performance halls could reopen in limited gauges from mid-May, if the epidemic weakens.

Live evenings

For the few French people who are still unaware of the existence of Culturebox, remember that it is a temporary channel which broadcasts on TNT channel 14 (that of the France 4 channel, which is set to disappear but which is broadcasting resistance), from 8 p.m.

On the program: a talk show presented by Daphné Bürki which highlights living artists. Then recordings of shows, often of excellent quality.

Until the end of summer

Culturebox was launched on February 1 and was to stop at the end of April, but the Ministry of Culture has asked the CSA for authorization to extend this authorization until August.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture greeted “this extension which will make it possible to offer many more pleasing shows to the public, and in particular to offer recordings of festivals during the summer period, to the delight of everyone. “

Delphine Ernotte-Cunci, president of France Télévisions, has a thought for “the cultural sector, in these trying times. It is the honor of the public service to bring culture to life and make it accessible to as many people as possible. “
