Reactions to the result came quickly and from all quarters on Wednesday night, most echoing the tone of MP Chris Bryant. Shortly after the British Conservatives announced that Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss would now be proposed to party members for election as the new prime minister, Bryant tweeted: “Brilliant. Thank you so, so much.” Most Conservatives said and wrote similar things, only Chris Bryant isn’t Tory. He is a Labor MP.
