France, it is well known, is the country of fashion, of haute couture. It is also a very “old-fashioned” country which is considering a possible generalization of the uniform at school… as long as the experiments are conclusive, as Emmanuel Macron explained during his press conference on January 16. For these experiments, according to Le Figaro which reveals the image of these uniforms, France has released its most beautiful fabrics, its most beautiful colors: white, gray, navy blue. No, contrary to appearances, it will not only be for the police or gendarmerie school.
If this revelation allows us to project ourselves into 1950 – sorry – at the start of the 2024 school year, its main aim is to attract new communities. It is in fact the municipalities (for schools), the departments (for middle schools) and the regions (for high schools) which decide whether or not to test the system in some of their establishments. For the moment, around a hundred are up for it, all of them are led by Macronist, right-wing or far-right elected officials. Because this “kit” proposed by the State is a sort of turnkey kit for communities which do not have the means or find it too complex to design one. Only the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, led by LR Laurent Wauquiez, presented its own parade in December.

In either case, fashionistas will recognize that we are more in a sportswear outfit than in a strict English outfit, with a jacket, or even from certain French private establishments. Always according to Le Figaro, a complete outfit for the year costs 200 euros. Families should not have to pay it, the cost should be shared between the State and the community in question. For the moment, for the next school year, between 20,000 and 25,000 students are affected out of… 12 million.

Isn’t she there, in this uniform she has been calling for for decades, the next panic of the conservatives against this evil “gender” who forces our girls to dress like boys?
