Grasbrunn: Four areas for wind turbines – district of Munich

The municipality of Grasbrunn has four possible concentration zones for wind turbines. After examining the water protection areas, overhead lines and plans of the neighboring communities, the municipal council selected four out of six potential areas and designated them for the construction of wind turbines. Two areas are on the southern municipal border to Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, a third east of state road 2079 on the border to Hohenbrunn and the fourth south of Keferloh near the A 99 motorway. One area east of Harthausen and another between Grasbrunn and Harthausen found the municipal council no majority.

This means that four areas will go into the further process, in which aspects such as landscape and species protection, air traffic and shadows will be examined more closely. At 160.9 hectares, the Grasbrunn areas correspond to around six percent of the municipal area, but it is expected that the areas will be reduced as the process progresses.

By designating concentration zones, the municipal council is reacting to the “wind on land law” that has been in force since February 1st. This prescribes quotas for wind energy areas that each federal state must meet. The following applies to Bavaria: by the end of 2027, 1.1 percent of the state area and by the end of 2032 1.8 percent of the state area must be designated for wind turbines. The regional planning associations are responsible for designating priority areas, but the municipalities are free to report suitable areas to the regional planning associations themselves.
