Taylor Swift writes Grammy history: No one has been nominated in the “Song of the Year” category more often than the US singer.

The American singer Taylor Swift (33) broke another record on Friday evening. Thanks to the nomination of their hit “Anti-Hero” at the upcoming At the 2024 Grammy Awards in the “Song of the Year” category, she achieved something historic: never before had anyone been nominated for this prestigious category seven times. She previously shared the record with Paul McCartney (81) and Lionel Richie (74).

According to the organizers, they were also nominated in this main category Lana Del Rey (38), Dua Lipa (28), Miley Cyrus (30), Olivia Rodrigo (20), Billie Eilish (21) and SZA (36). In total, Swift could take home six Grammys next year. The winner in absolute terms was the R&B singer SZA, who received a total of nine nominations – more than any other artist this year. Like Swift, SZA is also competing in the main categories of “Song of the Year” and “Album of the Year”.

This year it was more difficult for the artists to get onto the so-called shortlists as nominees because the organizers had reduced the number in each category from ten to eight. The 66th Grammy Awards in 2024 will take place on February 4th in Los Angeles.

The 66th Grammy Awards in 2024 are firmly in female hands

Three musicians received a total of seven nominations: Victoria Monét (34), Phoebe Bridgers (29, six times with her band Boygenius) and the sound engineer Serban Ghenea (54). Overall, the music world currently seems to be firmly in women’s hands. Jon Batiste (36) is the only male artist to find his name on the shortlists six or more times. In contrast, a total of nine artists managed to overcome this hurdle.

The most important music prize, the Grammy Awards, have been awarded in a total of 91 categories since 1959. The record for the most Grammys as an individual artist is currently held by Beyoncé (42) with a total of 32 awards. Michael Jackson (1958-2009) holds the record for both the most awards and most nominations at a single event, with eight Grammy wins from twelve nominations in 1984.
