Grafenau – slain by rubble – Bavaria

A drunk driver caused an accident on a state road in the Freyung-Grafenau district in which a passer-by was killed. The 30-year-old driver lost control of his car in the community of Schöfweg on Saturday evening. The car sped into a rest area, where it hit benches and tables made of wood and granite, then tumbled down a slope. The driver was seriously injured. A 24-year-old man was hit by flying parts and injured so badly that he died at the scene of the accident; his girlfriend was unharmed.
