Personal details are said to have not yet been negotiated between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP. But now prominent FDP politicians are bringing their party leader into position for one of the most important ministries.
From the point of view of party friends, FDP leader Christian Lindner is the favorite for the office of federal finance minister in a possible traffic light government.
“I can think of no one better for this task,” said the parliamentary manager of the FDP parliamentary group, Marco Buschmann, the “mirror”. In the last few weeks and months he had seen how thoroughly Lindner had prepared for this task. “You noticed that during the negotiations.”
The deputy FDP chairman Wolfgang Kubicki also sees party leader Christian Lindner as an ideal candidate for the office of finance minister. «Anyone who has doubts that all of this will succeed – the financing of the project without a tax increase and without new debts – must want Christian Lindner to become finance minister in order to document that it works. Otherwise the FDP would have the cake on its face, ”he told the radio station NDR-Info.
However, so far neither the division of departments nor the division of departments has been discussed. Who will occupy them should only be decided at the end of the negotiations.
Kubicki also assumed that the FDP’s negotiations with the Greens and the SPD for a joint coalition agreement would succeed. Negotiating the details on the basis of the exploratory paper will not be easy, but “it can be done”. “I have such a good mood, such a good approach, professional, not seen in the last few years and decades.”
Buschmann, in turn, left it open whether he himself would take over the office of Lindner parliamentary group chairman. “I don’t know,” said the 44-year-old, who is considered a confidante of Lindner. «I want a team line-up in which we can be successful together. It is not so important what I personally want. “
Buschmann emphasized the willingness of the three negotiating parties to reform: “We want to reform our country and the steps that we have agreed are enormous.” It is “the largest modernization project since the 1970s”. “All three parties pursue a philosophy of progressive pragmatism.” The new thing about the exploratory result between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP is that they did not agree on formula compromises. “Everyone had to move.”
