Google TV has been the subject of a nice update allowing it to improve its storage system on the one hand, and its performance on the other.
The operating system for television, Google TV, is entitled to a more than welcome update. The Mountain View firm presents the new features in a post on Google TV Help Community. Two optimizations were mainly made, one relating to storage, the other to performance.
App Hibernation is the first novelty presented. This forces applications to “hibernate” when they are not used for more than 30 days, we can read. This hibernation allows you to play on the storage space available in the system, specifies the Californian giant.
Always more space
Android App Bundles (AAB) have also been reworked, as app sizes have been reduced by approximately 25%. Here, Google TV uses only the elements of the app that you need, and no longer the entire application, again to free up space on your device.
As a reminder, the AABs were presented in 2018. This format aimed at replacing its APK counterpart is increasingly being pushed by the American manufacturer. It is both smaller, faster and therefore more practical on many points. Google even punishes developers who are now confined to the APK.
A faster and more responsive OS
In terms of performance, Google says it has reduced the response time between your remote control and your TV, for ever more responsiveness. In addition, Google TV is now supposed to turn on faster, while the loading animation when restarting has also been optimized.
All these small improvements are already being deployed, or even already implemented on your devices, says Google. Now all you have to do is enjoy it.
