The first-round cup game against FC Bayern, which was postponed due to a corona infection at Bremer SV, turned into a goal festival: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Jamal Musiala in particular shone – and Leroy Sané also had reason on this Wednesday evening (25.08.21) to celebrate.
The fifth division team from Bremen had emphasized again and again before the game that they wanted to have fun that evening. “It’s also very important to me that we stay true to our own style of play,” said coach Fabrizio Muzzicato to his players and the public. And in fact, with fresh self-confidence from a 3: 1 league success over Blumenthaler SV, the sports club refrained from bolting the balls forward from their own half. The playful approach was always the first choice – even if the final result of 0:12 (0: 5) did not quite adequately reflect the mutual effort to have an entertaining football game.
First degree from Bremen’s Diop
The 10,029 fans in the Weserstadion definitely had fun, after five minutes even enthusiasm arose: Bremen’s wingman Lamine Diop had left the French world champion Corentin Tolisso and simply pulled it from the edge of the penalty area – but Sven Ulreich in the Bayern goal held the ball .
Ulreich was one of the six Munich professionals that Julian Nagelsmann had promoted from the Bundesliga bank to the starting line-up on this cup evening compared to the 3-2 win against 1. FC Köln. Manuel Neuer stayed at home with slight capsule problems in the ankle, as did Leon Goretzka and Robert Lewandowski, who were spared.

The Bremen SV tried to combine their own defensive, but also overdid it again and again. Ikrami Olatunji even wanted to cross-play in his own penalty area, but lost the ball to Malik Tillmann, who had been substituted seconds before, who thanked him 6-0 (47th). The most beautiful goal of the evening up to then was followed by Musiala a minute later, who pushed the ball from 16 meters from half right to 7-0 in the left corner.

The strength of the sports club was now noticeably waning, and so the counted Sané used the evening after two assists to comfort the soul: With a dry oblique shot, he scored to 8-0 (65th) and was then replaced by almost all fans in the Bayern jersey demonstratively applauded and just as demonstratively hugged by Nagelsmann.
The tide of goals conceded was thus for the pitiable Bremer in the end, who lost a quarter of an hour before the end of Ugo-Mario Nobile after an emergency brake with red, but was far from over. Mickael Cuisance (80th), Choupo-Moting (82nd) with his fourth goal, Bouna Sarr (85) and Tolisso (88th) made the shooting festival complete.
