Globalization is alive and kicking – economy

Disrupted supply chains, failed takeovers, blocked gas lines: After three years of crises, wars and growing international tensions, the triumph of globalization seems to have finally come to a halt. At least that has been the political narrative for some time now that has accompanied the coronavirus pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the West’s growing fear of becoming too economically dependent on countries like China. The only problem is: the interpretation is obviously wrong – or to put it mildly, it is not covered by the numbers in this generality. This emerges from the annual globalization report by New York University NYU and Deutsche Post subsidiary DHL, which was presented on Wednesday.
