Most visitors agree that a walk through the columned hall Stoa169 near Polling is beneficial, even inspiring. But it is a pleasant surprise that the colorful forest of columns even tempts companies to spend money on art in architecture. In any case, Deltapro Immobilen, based in Gilching, was impressed by the forest of pillars and ordered a pillar itself for its Working.living House office building in the Gilching industrial park.
Managing Director Alexander Reichhart was particularly impressed by the Roland Fischer column in Polling. The photo artist, born in 1958 and living in Munich and Beijing, attracted attention early on with his large-format portraits. Since the late nineties he has also devoted himself to architecture, since then has been working on the series “Facades”, for which he photographs views of extraordinary buildings all over the world. For the pillar in the Gilching office building, in which different companies share the rooms as tenants, Fischer chose the facade of the “Azrieli Center” in Tel Aviv. Three skyscrapers that, among other things, house a gigantic shopping center. Aesthetic reasons were decisive for the choice of motif, says the artist in a video (www.working-living.de/rolandfischer). But it is fitting that both localities were built out of nowhere on sand or arable land, Tel Aviv, however, 100 years before the Gilching industrial park. Fischer also has a meta-level ready: he also created his “Façades” in the hope that the economic dynamics of globalization would also inspire cross-border democratic coexistence on a cultural level. That fits in with the open, cross-industry concept of the building.
Whatever the case: the six-meter-high column with the facade structure of the skyscraper is now strict, slim and beautiful in the publicly accessible entrance area of the house. This art in construction project definitely deserves praise. It would be nice if many other companies followed suit.
