The musician Gil Ofarim caused discussions with the description of an experience in a hotel in Leipzig: He was insulted anti-Semitically, he was told to “put away” a necklace with a Star of David. This led to a great deal of solidarity. But later doubts arose about his portrayal. Ofarim has filed charges of insult, a hotel employee in turn against him for defamation, and there are also charges from unknown third parties for incitement to hatred. The results of the public prosecutor’s office, which will comment soon, are eagerly awaited. An assessment of the case by Frank Saliger, professor of law and legal philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.
