Gerson ready to “go elsewhere” from the winter transfer window?

Centerpiece of Jorge Sampaoli last season, Brazilian midfielder Gerson had to settle for almost crumbs since this summer with Igor Tudor, namely 523 minutes of play in Ligue 1 and the Champions League. A downgrading which challenges for this Brazilian international (5 selections) of 25 years, and this from his second season at Olympique de Marseille. Left on the bench for the last three meetings, the former Flamengo player saw the situation very badly, according to his father and adviser Marcao.

Interviewed by The Team, he lets go, and obviously targets Igor Tudor: “We are angry. This is a very problematic situation. How can a player who is in full possession of his skills be left out overnight, with no chance to show his football? It’s incomprehensible. We are really sad because this coach prevents us from dreaming of a place in the group for the World Cup with Brazil. There is so little time left to show off.

“Organize to leave from the next transfer window”

Given the competition that exists in Seleçao, it is indeed more than unlikely that Gerson is in Tite’s list which will be announced on November 7 for this World Cup in Qatar. Suffice to say that Marcao will quickly clearly indicate to Pablo Longoria the desires of departure of his son, under contract at the club until 2026.

“We are going to look elsewhere. It’s inevitable. We will organize ourselves to leave from the next transfer window. If Gerson is no longer important for OM, then we will find a club that will be able to value him, ”concludes Marcao. The Gerson file, who had been recruited in 2021 for an estimated sum of nearly 25 million euros, is therefore on track to animate the next Marseille transfer window.
