Germany Pact: Pain when joining forces – politics

There should have been a debate about the Germany Pact. A debate about how government and opposition can work together on migration policy. Given the increasing number of refugees and the needs of the communities, this would be an overdue undertaking. But it became exactly the opposite. CDU leader Friedrich Merz is “humanly vile,” complained a Green Party speaker. Merz is pouring populist “oil on the fire,” said a speaker from the SPD, and he is “igniting again” a speaker from the Green Party. And the Union representatives didn’t hold back either. Rarely have the traffic light coalition and the Union faction attacked each other as personally as they did this Thursday. One person in particular was responsible for this: Friedrich Merz.
