“Books are a backbone of our democratic culture,” said Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth when she presented the “German Bookstore Awards” in Augsburg a few days ago. A number of bookshops from Munich and all over Bavaria also honored them: In the category “Particularly outstanding bookshops”, Literature Moths from Munich received a seal of quality along with a prize of 15,000 euros. In the “Outstanding Bookstores” category, the following shops were awarded a seal of approval and 7,000 euros: Blattgold Literatur and Rauch & König in Munich, Bücher Lehmann in Nördlingen, the bookshop at the Obstmarkt in Augsburg, the bookshop at the Tower in Ochsenfurt, the bookshop Genniges in Roth, the bookstores at Kopernikusplatz and Jakob in Nuremberg, the bookshop Volkert in Sulzbach-Rosenberg and the Hätzfeld bookshop in Würzburg. Buch Kempter in Ottobrunn also received an undoped seal of approval.
