Gerhard Schröder: Majority of Germans for sanctions – the EU could obviously do that! – Domestic politics

The EU is apparently in the position of former chancellor and gas lobbyist Gerhard Schröder (78, SPD) because of his work for the Kremlin group Gazprom put on the sanctions list!

A 5-page assessment by the scientific service of the EU Parliament (is available to BILD) includes: on the result: A condition for sanctions is business activity “that contributes to substantial revenues of the government of the Russian Federation”. And: Non-Russians can also be on the sanctions list.

For EU politician Niclas Herbst (49, CDU) it is now clear that “Gerhard Schröder can also be subject to sanctions”. He calls on EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell (75) to submit a corresponding application to the EU Council. “The requirements have been met,” Herbst told BILD.

The majority of Germans (59 percent) are also in favor of sanctions against Schröder, according to an INSA survey for BILD. In addition, 65 percent are in favor of “all services from public coffers being canceled” within the framework of the law.
