Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, will have to justify the dysfunctions of electoral propaganda – Alain ROBERT / AFP

This Wednesday, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin is auditioned in the Senate by the Law Commission, following numerous dysfunctions in the distribution of electoral propaganda before the first round of regional and departmental elections on Sunday, June 20.

Many leaflets and candidate programs did not reach voters’ mailboxes before the date of the first round, with some leaflets even found abandoned or burnt in the woods before delivery. A problem denounced by several political parties, in particular La France Insoumise. La Poste and Adrexo, the two providers responsible for delivering electoral propaganda, were summoned by the Interior Ministry on Monday. Adrexo, a new service provider, is seriously questioned and Gérald Darmanin has indicated that he wishes to review the contract with this company.

This Wednesday, it is the minister himself who is summoned before the Law Commission. He is accused of having been informed several days before the first round about failures in the routing of electoral propaganda, without having been able to remedy the problem. The minister in any case promised that this would not happen for the second round this Sunday.
