Georgia: New attempt for the “agent law” – Politics

A year ago, after protests, the Georgian government withdrew a controversial draft law reminiscent of Russia’s draconian rules. Now it is re-introducing the law under a different title. The EU is worried and the population is starting to demonstrate again.

The government has had to expect that resistance is increasing. On Monday evening, students, activists and media representatives demonstrated in front of the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi, carrying megaphones, posters and flags of Georgia and the European Union. Almost 20 organizations called for the next protest on Tuesday evening – a “freedom march against Russian law” from Republic Square to Parliament. “Join us for Georgia’s European future,” says the call on Facebook, because many in Georgia see this future in danger.
