In the social media, numerous readers of the history magazine Geo epoch protested against the end of the magazine title in recent months – with success. In the course of the major cutback in Gruner + Jahr’s print business, RTL and the parent company Bertelsmann wanted to cut a total of 500 jobs in Hamburg and take 23 magazines off the market. Well they do at least in the case of Geo epoch a reverse roll: “Geo epoch will remain part of the portfolio of RTL Germany,” reads the message that the company sent out on Thursday afternoon. The magazine will therefore continue to exist both as a brand and as a print magazine. In the future, it will be online – together with Geo, capital and Star Crime – with the payment offer star+ to get integrated.
