In Geesthacht near Hamburg, an American Bully XL attacked and seriously injured its owner. The man died in hospital a few days after the dog attack.

A few days after being attacked by his own dog in Geesthacht near Hamburg, a 35-year-old man died from severe bite injuries. His death was confirmed in a hospital on Friday evening, as the police confirmed on Sunday morning. He died from injuries to both of his arms.

According to “Bild”, the man bought the dog two years ago for 800 euros. “He was the third owner, the first one had messed up the dog,” the father of the deceased told the newspaper. Apparently the animal came from the neighborhood.

Man found seriously injured after dog attack

The man was found bleeding profusely in a forest last Wednesday by a walker. His dog, an American Bully XL, appeared to be guarding him and reacted aggressively to the paramedics who were called. Police forces shot the animal. According to the information, the animal was neither wearing a leash nor a muzzle. It initially remained unclear how long his owner had been lying injured on the ground before the walker happened to pass by.

As it turned out, the dog had already attacked and seriously injured the man’s partner at the beginning of January. According to police, she was hospitalized for at least two weeks. Several media outlets reported.
