Alarm in the Freising swimming pool: On Friday morning, a gas detector was triggered in the Freising swimming pool and, according to the police, a large number of rescue workers rushed to the scene. All bathers present were evacuated from the swimming pool by the forces of the fire brigade. The cause of the alarm triggering, the triggering detector was in the basement, could be found quickly. After initial measurements by the fire brigade, they were able to give the all-clear again. The reason for the alarm was a brief escape of chlorine dioxide during maintenance work, which is used to treat the water.

Technician can neutralize the gas

The chlorine dioxide was able to be neutralized by a swimming pool technician before the fire brigade arrived, which the measurements of the fire brigade then confirmed, according to the police. Since a swimming pool employee had briefly inhaled the lung-damaging chlorine dioxide, he was treated on site by the rescue service. The fire brigade was able to release the swimming pool again after a short time and swimming continued. At no time was there any danger to the bathers present.
