Kitchen herbs can be planted wonderfully and above all beautifully in lemon peels. We’ll show you how.
For this we need: A spoon, a knife, unwaxed lemons or oranges, seeds and soil.
First we cut off a piece from the bottom of the lemon. So that she can stand later.
Then it’s the other side’s turn. Here we cut away about a third of the lemon.
Now it’s time to hollow out – neatly with a knife and spoon.
Then we poke a small hole on the underside. So that the water can drain off better later.
It’s already looking good.
Now we fill the lemon with soil. And press the whole thing a little firmly… With a pencil or finger we pierce holes about 1 cm deep in the ground. For the seeds.
Once they are inside, everything is quickly covered with earth and pressed down.
Et voilà: small seedlings in the lemon peel. But be careful: not all plants tolerate citric acid. So it is better to ask directly when buying the seeds. We have chosen columbines.
When the seedling emerges from the soil, it’s time to transplant. And completely. With lemon zest! Because it practically composts itself.
