Garchinger fire brigade: two nocturnal operations on the Autobahn – district of Munich

A sports car that crashes into the crash barrier, a truck that drives into a parked traffic safety trailer belonging to the Autobahnmeisterei – the fire brigade of the city of Garching completed two demanding night-time operations on the A9 last weekend. On the night of September 30, a sports car was thrown into the crash barrier shortly after the Garching-Nord motorway exit for an unknown reason. The debris was spread across the lanes. Both occupants were not or only slightly injured. While this operation lasted around one and a half hours with a brief complete closure of the motorway, the Garching fire brigade was required to work twice as long in the early hours of the morning on October 1st. At the level of the Eching exit, a truck had crashed into a parked traffic safety trailer of the Autobahnmeisterei, in which fortunately nobody was.

This truck, which crashed into a parked trailer, forced the Garching fire department to work early in the morning.

The driver of the articulated lorry was able to free himself from his cab with only minor injuries. Due to the expansion of the site, the motorway had to be completely closed, as Markus Mayerle, responsible for press work at the Garching volunteer fire brigade, reports. After one lane was cleaned, traffic in the left lane was diverted past the scene of the accident. The Garching fire brigade was in action for around three hours under the direction of commander Christian Schweiger. In addition, the fire brigades from Hochbrück and Dietersheim, managers from the district fire inspections in Freising and Munich, forces from the emergency services and the police, and the motorway maintenance department were on site. “Unfortunately, there were major problems with a large number of road users during this operation,” Mayerle writes. Among other things, “several onlookers were discovered filming and photographing as traffic passed the scene.”
