Garching – safety vests for schoolchildren – district of Munich

Garching’s mayor Dietmar Gruchmann distributed yellow safety vests for all primary school students. To do this, he personally attended elementary schools. The city had provided children’s vests with wide light and reflective strips and even with the city’s “Garching” lettering. In all three schools, Gruchmann explained to the children that – just like drivers or cyclists – they are road users on the way to school. To increase safety, he recommended that the children wear safety vests. “Especially now, when it is darker, you are hardly seen in the morning with normal clothing!” The children eagerly took it. The children’s sizes fit everyone well, and an anorak can of course also be worn underneath. The children promised to use the gifts on their way to school.
