Garching: ice sheet falls from truck to car – district of Munich

A heavy sheet of ice fell on Monday on the A9 motorway near Garching while driving from a previously unknown truck onto two other vehicles. According to the police, the approximately one square meter slab came off the roof of a semi-trailer truck heading towards Berlin at around 9:20 a.m. and first hit the windshield of a second semi-trailer truck driving diagonally behind it.

From here, the ice slid further onto the vehicle front of a pick-up, which caused damage of around 500 euros. Nobody got hurt. The police are now looking for the driver of the articulated lorry, who had not de-iced his vehicle properly and simply drove on after the incident. His truck is said to have had a Polish registration. Witnesses are asked to contact the Freising Traffic Police Inspectorate on 08161/9520.
