Gamers no longer necessarily have to buy video games. There are a whole range of subscription models. A quick overview.

For many gamers, there is hardly anything better than starting a new game. Today, video game fans don’t necessarily have to go to a store or shop in digital stores to get supplies. Some of them come via different subscription models Fixed price or no additional costs for games. Here is a small selection of current offers. Which games are included in detail, other functions or additional offers not mentioned here and the like can be found on the pages of the respective services.

Microsoft’s Game Pass

One of the most well-known is probably Microsoft’s Game Pass, which users can book in different versions. The first month on the PC is available for one euro, after which the subscription costs 9.99 euros per month. There are also console variants (6.99 euros and 10.99 euros) as well as an ultimate model – after two free weeks for 14.99 euros per month. It includes changing, often current games. There are also new titles for the “Game Pass Core” library on a regular basis.

EA Play

Depending on the Game Pass variant you choose, it also includes a membership for EA Play so you can access games from Electronic Arts. A subscription can also be booked individually directly with the publisher – or for the PlayStation. Depending on the variant, 5.99 euros per month or 39.99 euros per year or 16.99 euros per month or 119.99 euros annually are due.

PlayStation Plus

Sony also offers memberships in different levels via PlayStation Plus, which give gamers access to games. In the most cost-effective Essential tariff, depending on the period selected, between 8.99 euros for a month and 71.99 euros for a year, there are new games for the collection every month that can be played during membership. In more expensive levels – “Premium” up to 151.99 euros for twelve months – a large game catalog and Ubisoft + Classics titles are added, among other things.

Amazon Prime Gaming, Luna and Ubisoft+

Members of Amazon Prime – regular price 8.99 euros per month or 89.90 euros annually, 50 percent discount for trainees, students and people exempt from broadcasting fees – receive, among other things, access to the Prime Video streaming service and access to Prime Gaming. Here you can regularly download PC games for free, among other things.

Alternatively, the shipping giant also offers the Luna cloud gaming service. Games can be streamed on numerous devices – including PCs, iPhones or Android smartphones and on Amazon’s own devices. Prime members can access a small selection of titles, while Luna+ offers a significantly larger library. After a seven-day trial period, the whole thing costs 9.99 euros per month. You can also currently book Ubisoft+ (17.99 euros per month) and a “Jackbox Games” pack (4.99 euros per month). The French game manufacturer Ubisoft also offers Ubisoft+ on its website in two models (7.99 euros and 17.99 euros per month).

Humble choice

PC gamers should keep an eye on the so-called “Humble Choice” from Humble Bundle. There are several games available every month for 9.99 euros, usually in the form of keys that can be redeemed on the Steam platform. Customers can keep the games even if their subscription is paused or canceled.

Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass

For those who prefer to play on their smartphone, there is Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass. Apple Arcade – and thus access to more than 200 games – is free for three months with the purchase of a supported device. The whole thing normally costs 6.99 euros per month after a four-week trial subscription. The Play Pass is designed accordingly for Android devices. According to Google, it includes more than 1,000 games and apps for 4.99 euros per month or 29.99 euros per year.
