After the end of the “Game of Thrones” series, a lot has happened with the former stars of the fantasy saga.

In May 2019, the fantasy saga “Game of Thrones” finally came to an end after eight seasons. In 2022, HBO comforted fans with the prequel series House of the Dragon, which told the prequel to the popular epic. The former “Game of Thrones” makers David Benioff (52) and DB Weiss (52) have now changed channels and are producing for Netflix Mystery Thriller Series “The 3 Suns”which will be launched in January 2024.

But what are the popular main actors of “Game of Thrones” actually doing today?

Sophie TurnerSansa Stark

“Game of Thrones” was Sophie Turner’s (26) first role ever. She also made it to the big screen as mutant Jean Gray in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. In 2022, the actress – who goes by the name of Sophie Belinda Jonas after marrying pop star Joe Jonas, 33 – returned to the smaller screen. In the HBO miniseries “The Staircase” she was seen alongside stars like Colin Firth (61) and Toni Colette (49). In the same year, her new film “Do Revenge” was released on Netflix. Afterwards, the actress was mainly busy with her role as a mother after her second child was born in July 2022.

Kit Harington (Jon Snow)

At the end of “Game of Thrones” Kit Harington (35) fell into a hole, went into treatment for alcohol addiction and depression. In the meantime, the Brit has caught himself. In cinemas, he was part of the Marvel superhero team “Eternals” in 2020, his first major role since “Game of Thrones”. In the theater he embodied Shakespeare’s Henry V. He will next play the monster that haunts Shelley’s mind in ‘Mary’s Monster,’ about the life of ‘Frankenstein’ author Mary Shelley and the making of her famous horror novel.

In 2022, HBO confirmed plans for a Game of Thrones spin-off titled Snow, which will center on Harington’s GoT character Jon Snow. When and if the planned series will actually be produced is still unclear. What is certain, however, is that the actor will star in the third season of the HBO banking drama Industry, which he is currently filming. On June 11, 2023, his new feature film “Blood for Dust” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, in which he can be seen in one of the leading roles.

Richard MaddenRobb Stark

Like colleague Harington, Richard Madden (36) was part of the ensemble of the science fiction action film “Eternals”, which was released in Germany in 2020. Before that, he played Elton John’s manager and lover in the biopic “Rocketman” and appeared in the war film “1917”. On April 28, 2023, the action series “Citadel” produced by Amazon Prime, in which Madden occupies one of the main roles, started. The Scot is also on the list of possible new James Bond actors, but has not yet been confirmed as the successor to Daniel Craig (55).

Maisie WilliamsArya Stark

Like Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams (25) made her acting debut with “Game of Thrones”, like her colleague who was two years older, she also became part of “X-Men”, but in the “young” offshoot “New Mutants”, which was released in September 2020 got to the cinemas. Most recently, the trained dancer shot the series “Pistol” – about the emergence of the punk band Sex Pistols. Next, she portrayed Catherine Dior, sister of legendary fashion designer Christian Dior, in the series “The New Look”. She is currently set to star in the true story comedy Sinner V. Saints. In it she plays the beauty queen Joyce McKinney, who kidnapped a Mormon missionary in the 1970s to make him a sex slave.

Peter DinklageTyrion Lannister

Unlike many co-stars, Peter Dinklage (53) was an established mime even before “Game of Thrones”. The series was followed, among other things, by a remake of the play “Cyrano de Bergerac”, which was released in cinemas in 2022 under the title “Cyrano”. In the title role, Dinklage was considered a contender for an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, but he got nothing. That same year, he had a cameo appearance in the sci-fi action comedy Thor: Love and Thunder, but the scene was scissored in post-production. He was most recently seen in the film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”, which was released on June 8, 2023.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen)

With “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (2018) or “Last Christmas” (2019), Emilia Clarke (35) was already working on her post-“GoT” career towards the end of the series. Nevertheless, the really big follow-up projects for the Brit are still a long way off. In 2022 she lent her voice to one of the characters in the animated film “Maurice the Cat”.
