Around thirty injured after parade float overturns

Around 30 people were injured Wednesday when a May Day parade float overturned near the southwestern German city of Freiburg im Breisgau, local police said.

The hitch, a trailer pulled by a tractor, “tipped onto its side” while the driver was making a left turn, she said in a statement. Among the “thirty people” who were injured in the accident, “ten (were) seriously”, according to the police.

Several helicopters

The victims were taken care of by “numerous rescue forces, including several rescue helicopters, particularly from neighboring Switzerland,” the police said.

The events occurred around 1:05 p.m. (11:05 a.m. GMT) on a road near the town of Kandern, a few dozen kilometers from Freiburg im Breisgau and the border with France.
