You can’t tell that Bernd Beetz is 73 years old. But you can tell that he lived abroad for many years. Or is it just the Mannheim tongue? This Wednesday, the trade manager is standing in front of journalists on stage at the much too large Galeria headquarters in Essen. The department store chain will move out here in 2025. It’s not yet clear where. 450 employees, half of those who work here, will lose their jobs. That is certain, says insolvency administrator Stefan Denkhaus.
