For just one euro, Vodafone currently offers Samsung’s Galaxy Watch6 plus a Withings smart device for free. We checked whether and for whom the offer is worthwhile.
The Watch6 is the current smartwatch model from Samsung. Vodafone is advertising the smart watch for one euro and a free gift – either a Bluetooth scale or a blood pressure monitor from Withings. To put it into perspective: The Watch6 is available online in some shops for just under 200 euros. The scales from smart device manufacturer Withings normally cost 90 euros, the measuring device even costs a good 120 euros. is that a good offer?
Galaxy Watch6 and free gift from Vodafone
With the right tariff, the Watch6 can be used practically like a smartphone, including making calls and surfing the internet. And that brings us to the catch: Vodafone only sells the devices in conjunction with a tariff priced at one euro. The prerequisite is that you already have a current mobile phone contract with Vodafone. In order to get the Withings device, you must also register with Samsung. On top of that, the smartwatch tariff must be paid in 24 installments, which costs 10.99 euros per month. The smartwatch can then also be used to make phone calls.

If you don’t want to take out a tariff or pay for the devices all at once, the cost is 279.90 euros. If you are interested in the blood pressure monitor from Withings, you can save a little money with this double pack without an additional tariff. Apart from that, the whole thing is particularly exciting for Vodafone mobile phone customers. With the contract, the total costs over 24 months amount to just under 265 euros. This not only makes the offer significantly cheaper than purchasing the devices individually, but there is also a tariff that allows you to make phone calls with the watch and become more independent of your smartphone.
Alternative without tariff binding: Huawei Watch GT3
A well-equipped smartwatch is currently available on eBay. The Huawei Watch GT3 is available in various versions – for example with a brown leather strap by 33 percent. The watch only costs 179 euros instead of 269 euros. The advantage: There are no additional monthly costs due to an additional tariff, and after coupling it to your cell phone you can still use it to its full extent.

The Huawei Watch is particularly interesting for sports enthusiasts because, in addition to measuring heart rate, stress and sleep, among other things, it can also create training plans for runners, for example. Anyone who values being able to leave their smartphone at home while jogging, swimming or in other situations is better off with the Galaxy Watch6.
